Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Fire 1 & 2 Hazmat Awareness and Operations or Equivalent
- First Aid Level 3 or Basic Ambulance Course
- Code C Driver’s License
- Medically and physically fit to conduct operational duties
- Must be able to swim
- No phobias (e.g. claustrophobia, acrophobia)
- Experience or knowledge regarding fire and rescue will be an added advantage
- Hardworking and self-disciplined
- 3 months internship experience will be an added advantage
Duties
- Respond to daily tasks and orders from the Station Officer
- Attend workplace duties as required
- Test and check vehicles and equipment
- Clean equipment and vehicles
- Report any malfunctions to the officer on duty
- Assist in combating fires with senior personnel
- Adhere to command on scenes
- Fight grass, wildland, and structural fires
- Protect property and fire equipment
- Perform control room duties when required
- Carry out any additional tasks assigned by a superior
- Perform rescue work
