Job Overview

The successful candidate will be required to sign a performance agreement and will be responsible for ensuring effective and efficient security services within the Gauteng Division of the High Court: Pretoria.


Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 10 or equivalent qualification as recognised by SAQA
  • Basic Security Officer’s course registered with PSIRA
  • Minimum of one-year experience in the security industry
  • Valid Driver’s license (added advantage)

Assessment

  • All shortlisted candidates shall undertake a pre-entry practical exercise to determine suitability based on technical and generic requirements

Knowledge and Skills

  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Good interpersonal and public relations skills

Duties

  • Ensure that outsourced security officers render efficient and effective service daily
  • Ensure all security and biometric systems function effectively
  • Meet outsourced security officials daily for performance reports
  • Report all incidents around Court premises immediately
  • Treat all clients, Court users, and colleagues equally and professionally
  • Capture biometrics data for new personnel and delete for those leaving
  • Attend meetings with South African Police Service, EMS, Fire Brigade, and TMPD during high-profile cases
  • Attend monthly meetings with outsourced security officials to evaluate performance
  • Ensure no liquor or video cameras enter the building without permission
  • Assist and monitor outsourced security officials during peak hours and high-profile cases
  • Review CCTV footage and save incidents
  • Monitor access points for effective access control
  • Monitor movements and activities using CCTV equipment
  • Conduct building inspections and patrols
  • Apply emergency procedures (e.g. bomb scares, riots) and alert emergency services
  • Monitor and respond to alarm systems
  • Update occurrence books/registers as required
  • Liaise with supervisors to verify recorded information
  • Perform crowd control and manage overcrowding
  • Ensure no Court property leaves without authorization
  • Control the number of visitors entering the premises
  • Accompany bomb squad during building sweeps before VIP visits or Court sessions
  • Ensure all entrants follow access control procedures
