Job Description
Cashbuild General Assistants 2026 Ensure comprehensive customer service in-store. Responsible for merchandising stock, shelf price labelling, and housekeeping within the designated area of responsibility.

- Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 with 1 year related work experience; or
- Grade 12 without related work experience
- Ability to communicate in English and the dominant language spoken in the geographical area where the position is available
- Valid South African ID or work permit
- Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
- Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Must be able to work under pressure
Key Performance Areas
Customer Service
- Advise and assist customers on correct products and queries
- Assist with and resolve customer complaints
Merchandising Standards
- Bulk stock area to be merchandised safely and according to store layout plan
- Ensure area of responsibility is fully merchandised according to store layout and planograms
Housekeeping
- Ensure area is free of obstacles
- Merchandise stock immediately after receiving it
- Ensure customers can enter and leave aisles safely
- Maintain correct shelf price labelling within area of responsibility
- Complete required checklists for canteen and toilet/shower schedules while on duty
Safety (OHSA) Requirements
- Ensure OHSA compliance within area of responsibility
- Use appropriate safety gear and maintain customer and staff safety
- Ensure racking and bulk stock are merchandised safely
- Report any discrepancies to the Store Manager
Manage Stock Loss
- Report damaged stock within area of responsibility to the Store Manager
