Key Responsibilities
Cleaning and Waste Management
- Sweep floors using brushes and dust-control mops.
- Mop floors using wet and damp mops.
- Vacuum carpeted areas and perform spot cleaning.
- Operate floor scrubbing and polishing machines after training.
- Dust, wash, wipe, and polish furniture and surfaces.
- Empty waste bins and transport waste to collection points.
- Refill consumable items such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.
- Clean toilets, urinals, basins, sinks, showers, and drinking fountains.
- Correctly use cleaning chemicals according to instructions.
- Clean walls and internal windows as required.
- Maintain cleanliness standards with minimal supervision.
Health and Safety Compliance
- Follow all workplace health and safety regulations.
- Adhere to UJ Health and Safety policies.
- Support emergency and fire safety procedures.
- Wear protective clothing and uniforms when required.
- Ensure equipment and work areas remain secure and tidy.
Customer Service Delivery
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance activities.
- Maintain stock levels in allocated cleaning areas.
- Report faulty equipment and safety hazards.
- Communicate professionally with staff, students, and visitors.
Policy Compliance
- Adhere to all University of Johannesburg policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate and uphold UJ values.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 Certificate.
- Vocational Certificate (NQF Level 1).
- Relevant cleaning experience.
- Must reside in Devland.
- Proof of residence in Devland will be required.
Recommended Qualifications
- Grade 12 (Matric) or NQF Level 4.
- Knowledge of basic cleaning procedures.
- At least one year of cleaning experience.
