Minimum Requirements

The positions are categorized into three grades based on experience:

  • Grade 1: Qualification allowing registration with the SANC as a Staff Nurse and Enrolled Nurse.
  • Grade 2: In addition to Grade 1 requirements, a minimum of 10 years of appropriate/recognizable nursing experience post-registration with the SANC as an Enrolled Nurse.
  • Grade 3: In addition to Grade 1 requirements, a minimum of 20 years of appropriate/recognizable nursing experience post-registration with the SANC as an Enrolled Nurse.

Key Performance Areas

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and Implementing Basic Patient Care Plans:
  • Maintain patient hygiene.
  • Ensure patients’ nutritional needs are met.
  • Facilitate patient mobility.
  • Assist with elimination processes.
  • Providing Basic Clinical Nursing Care:
  • Measure, interpret, and record vital signs.
  • Operate relevant medical equipment.
  • Assist Professional Nurses with clinical procedures, including administering intramuscular injections.
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic and surgical procedures.
  • Efficient Resource Utilization:
  • Order stock and equipment cost-effectively.
  • Report any loss or damage immediately.
  • Maintaining Professional Growth and Ethical Standards:
  • Adhere to the Public Service Code of Conduct and professional regulations.
  • Engage in continuous learning, including in-service training and courses.

Competencies

Ideal candidates should possess:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing care processes, procedures, and statutes.
  • Familiarity with the Nursing Act, Health Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Patient Rights Charter.
  • Understanding of Batho-Pele principles, Public Service Regulations, Labour Relations Act, Disciplinary Code, and Grievance Procedure Act.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic facilitation skills and responsiveness.

Remuneration

Competitive remuneration packages based on the grade of the position:

  • Grade 1: R209,112 – R237,441 per annum
  • Grade 2: R248,613 – R283,347 per annum
  • Grade 3: R290,805 – R362,187 per annum

These packages include comprehensive service benefits, such as a basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, and pension-fund contributions.
