Job Overview
The Department of Correctional Services is recruiting Senior Security Officers (Team Leaders) to oversee internal security operations within correctional facilities.
This role focuses on leadership, security enforcement, and ensuring safe custody and control within prison environments.
Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12
OR - Relevant NQF Level 6 qualification in Behavioural Sciences
- Successful completion of Correctional Science Learnership
- Basic Training with at least 10 years relevant experience at entry-level post (CB1)
- Computer literacy
- Valid driver’s licence

Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership as Team Leader within correctional centre grounds
- Prevent unauthorized access and removal of items
- Conduct patrols and monitor prison grounds
- Detect and prevent escapes
- Prevent theft of government property
- Supervise guarding of offenders and work teams
- Escort offenders to courts, hospitals, and external institutions
- Prevent smuggling of unauthorized items
- Conduct searches of offenders, cells, and work areas
- Monitor visits and offender interactions
- Control and maintain security equipment
- Ensure sufficient staffing for searches and operations
- Supervise dog unit and mounted unit operations
- Manage human resources, finances, and assets
